Bringing Symposia to Life

Barb's painting "Northern Solitude" (shown here) will be part of Bringing Symposia to Life, an independent virtual Science Art exhibition that is linked to symposia presented at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The meeting will be held in Washington, DC beginning February 17, 2011.

An online Science Art exhibit produced by Science Art-Nature is scheduled go live February 13th 2011...

Each work corresponds with a symposium topic and is accompanied by a caption providing viewers with a science lens that will help them understand how the image coordinates with the topic. This virtual exhibit will serve as an example of how Science art can expand the interest in and understanding of science discussed at science meeting and conferences.

One of several road trips to the west coast in search of landscapes, wildlife and reference material.

St. Mary Lake, Glacier National Park, Montana (altitude 4,484 ft)
It is the second largest lake in GNP created by a widening of the St. Mary River. Located on the east side of the park, the Going-to-the-Sun-Road parallels the lake along its north shore. As an artist, I find the spectacular scenery and breathtaking ride along the winding mountains is a must for my solitude and inner peace.

George Lake, Killarney Provincial Park

Several trips a year to Killarney Provincial Park is a must for me. I particularly love going in the fall, surrounded with rich colours of autumn leaves and earthy scents. It is both serene and calming for the soul after a hectic summer. Soon after this trip, I found inspiration for my Northern Solitude painting.
